Extremist violence rocks Hamburg - BBC News


Street conflicts permanent respective hours have got gripped the German port metropolis of Hamburg, in what police force depict as the worst public violences there for years.


Left-wing demonstrators angered by a neo-Nazi rally hurled bottles at police force and set autos and trash bins ablaze. Police responded with H2O cannon.


The force erupted on Thursday evening, after one thousands of dissenters had gathered in the metropolis for May Day.


About 250 rioters were detained and about 20 police force military officers reported hurt.


Police said about 7,000 collectivists tried to interrupt through a police force cordon shielding about 1,100 far-right demonstrators.

Police utilize H2O cannon to disperse rioters on the streets of Hamburg


The force hundred on the Barmbek territory of Hamburg.


The neo-Nazis had travelled to Hamburg from all over Germany. Some of their buses were damaged in the violence.


Leftists put respective autos ablaze and erected street roadblocks with planks, street marks and rubbish, local functionaries said. A police force vehicle was among those set on fire.


Some of the neo-Nazis also got involved in fights. Germany's Der Spiegeleisen website states respective journalists were assaulted by them.


Lower-level violence also erupted at May Day presentations in German Capital and Nurnberg on Thursday.
